OUR WHY
MEET
THE
TEAM
For decades, we have been experiencing the slow and steady decay of the culture of God’s kingdom in a fundamental, moral, and communal sense. While it’s tempting to place blame on a number of trending factors, the reality is clear: this decay falls on the shoulders of the men of the church.​
​
​It’s not that there’s a shortage of Christian men looking to dedicate their life to Jesus in order to make a difference in the world. There are, in fact, many men like you striving to make a difference but who are often met with frustration or opposition. The intent is there, but there has long been a shortage of the resources required to direct and inspire these men to truly put their intentions into action.

Pickleball enthusiast, scuba diver, history buff, and proud grandparent, Dean is passionate about adventure and lifelong learning—whether trekking above Everest’s base camp or diving into church doctrine. He brings that same curiosity and energy to leading Men of the Kingdom.
FAITH STORY
"As a young man, I thought the purpose in life was to achieve success and happiness through success in the business world and economic security.
​
Once that was achieved, I found the goal that I sacrificed so much for to be unsatisfying. I found peace and real purpose in life when I found Christ in my late 20s.
​
Once I realized the historicity of scripture and then I came face to face with Christ who claimed to be God, I had a decision to make. Would I follow Jesus or continue you on in a pursuit of worldly goals? After reading the Gospels and CS Lewis’ Mere Christianity, I became convinced that Jesus was Lord and I decided to follow Jesus. I am currently filled with purpose, peace and joy."

MESSAGE FOR MEN OF THE KINGDOM
We are dedicated to glorifying God by advancing his Kingdom through equipping and encouraging the next generation of moral leaders in the church. Over the next 12 weeks you will be challenged to grow as a leader by using the mind of Christ, engaging your heart and putting into practice the leadership principles that King Jesus has established in his word. Our foundation is based on the Bible and calls each man into leadership in his own personal mission field. We are called to seek first the Kingdom (Matthew 6:33) in all of our days and serve the people that God is sending us to on a daily basis. We are dedicated to serving and supporting you in your journey. I believe that a sovereign God has chosen you to be a part of this team and that you were made for a time such as this. We live in a culture that needs your leadership right now; the world needs men who are willing to stand up, declaring the truth and defending the least and the lost. Evil will always advance when good men do nothing. Now is your time! Know that you have been prayed for and I ask that you begin praying for your Men of the Kingdom team. Satan and the Kingdom of darkness wants nothing to do with men that crackle with the Holy Spirit and are committed to resisting evil and advancing the Kingdom through serving Jesus. I am proud of you and I look forward to meeting you one day soon or in eternity!

Husband, father, and follower of Christ, Jonathon blends a Ph.D. in anatomy & cell biology with a love for ministry and adventure. A former D1 football player and student doctor, he now serves as Vice President of Men of the Kingdom and Campus Pastor at The Avenue at Wooddale Church, while fueling his competitive streak with Hyrox and Ironman races, snowboarding, XC skiing, and national park hikes. When he slows down, he writes spoken poetry or plays guitar—though he once almost died barefoot waterskiing and was even predicted to be just 3’6” tall.
MY FAITH STORY
"Although I was raised in a Christian context, I found my worth and value in how well I performed athletically and academically. I had a desire to win be approval of my earthly dad and of this world, so I pursued D1 football and medical school.
I found my earthy success didn’t lead to the significance, approval and notary that I longed for. They were insufficient sources of identity and purpose.
This, I found myself depressed and wanting to take my life.
It was in my darkest valley the Lord met me, demonstrated His sovereignty and unconditional love to me. It was in the valley I developed a love for God’s Word, clarity on who I am, who God is and His purpose for me. Now I strive to live a life glorifying Him by His grace."

MESSAGE FOR MEN OF THE KINGDOM
Men,
I believe God has a grand vision and purpose for your life, it is my hope that you begin to both discover and walk in this vision as you embark on this 12-week journey. I want you to know out the gate, that this will not be easy. Some may not rise to the challenge, some won’t put in the work, some won’t spend the time; but not you. Don’t let that be you. Everything worth doing is difficult, and I believe God has great things ahead for you. Put in the work, be consistent, commit to this group of guys. I am confident that if you do, God will work powerfully in your life over the coming week. You will become more of the man Christ longs for you to be, and the world will begin to change as a result.
